After her crowning as Mochabeauty Miss April 2020, Peace Mgbede embarked on a skill acquisition project for a few of young ladies to help them achieve economic stability and societal dignity. This she did by providing free classes for 1 month in tailoring and fashion designing via a collaboration with Debitalia fashion house.

During this period, participants were taught the basics of tailoring and fashion designing with hands-on experience and practical sessions provided by a seasoned facilitator in a serene environment. Participants were taught how to sew different styles with a variety of fabrics. The end of the training session was capped with the massive production of facemasks for free distribution and donation as part of a COVID-19 prevention outreach.

Miss April says she chose this project because there was a need to bridge the gap of unemployment and the rising cases of unrest among the youth in the society. As at the time of this project, Benue state in particular, and the world in general, were in the firm grip of a pandemic with several jobs already lost and many means of livelihood withdrawn. She says she saw the attainment of tailoring skills as a viable option to create another means of livelihood at little or no cost at all. This project was also necessitated by the need to improve safety from the COVID-19 pandemic within the community as the donated face masks were intended to go a long way in halting the spread of the virus.

Mgbede Peace Aize is currently the model on our digital flier. An Etulo lady from Benue state, she is also a medical student at the Benue State University. She comes from a family of 7: 2 parents and 5 children (4 girls and a boy). She is the last among the siblings and currently lives with both parents in Makurdi. She loves Singing and dancing.
