It was a thing of joy as winners of the first ever digital beauty contest in Nigeria “MochaBeauty” received their prizes on Monday the 2nd of February in Makurdi.
The first prize winner, Miss February, Eunice Tikyaa, won the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira, while the first runner up, Miss Jennifer Abomnger, received Seventy Thousand Naira. They are both students of the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi. Miss Victory Terlumun who was the third prize winner, is serving in Abuja and also received her check for fifty thousand naira on Monday.
The brains behind the contest, Devaan Mom, a prominent broadcaster and former aspirant for the House of Representatives, promised the winners of the Miss Month pageant in addition, an opportunity for growth and empowerment in their preferred endeavors. She also assured them that all Mocha beauty Queens will be linked to mentors who can guide them through the process of attaining their goals. The contest which is purely digital discourages nudity and has disallowed the use of bikinis as a means of showcasing beauty on their platform. This is in a bid to attract even married women and ladies from very conservative backgrounds who would ordinarily shy away from such contests because they do not want to expose their bodies. MochaBeauty provides a platform for them to retain and project their values while participating from the comfort of their homes.
Mocha Beauty Nigeria which showcases all kinds of beauty in a non-traditional beauty contest, celebrates and uplifts beauty in a positive and dignified way that empowers the woman. The prize giving ceremony was its maiden edition featuring contestants for February, 2020 and was keenly contested. It is open to every woman with a valid ID from the age of 18. Registration fee is N5000 only and has already commenced for Miss March. All winners will automatically be enrolled into the Miss 2020 scheduled for December this year.
